Why You Need a Planner in the Netherlands for Your Italian Wedding
The romantic dream of getting married in Italy vs. the reality of complex Italian logistics

Your wedding in Italy, planned closer to home
Perhaps it began with a holiday. A long lunch overlooking the lake, a courtyard you stumbled upon, an evening when neither of you wanted to leave. Somewhere along the way, “We should come back” became “What if we got married here?”
Then you opened your laptops.
There were venues to compare, suppliers to contact, accommodation to consider, and questions you hadn’t expected. Can everyone get there easily? What does that quotation actually include? Who will visit the venue with you? And how do you bring it all together alongside two demanding jobs and a life in the Netherlands?
I’m Gaia, founder of Mānuka Honeymoon. As an Italian wedding planner and honeymoon designer based in the Netherlands, I work between your home and the place you have chosen to celebrate. That connection can make planning feel considerably more personal—and more manageable.
Someone you can meet before you arrive in Italy
Choosing your wedding planner is an intimate decision. You are inviting someone into conversations about your relationship, your families, your money, and the moments that matter most to you.
It helps to have space for those conversations.
Being based in the Netherlands means we can meet here, look through ideas together, and discuss the details that are sometimes difficult to capture in an email. Perhaps you love a venue’s atmosphere but feel uncomfortable with its formality. Perhaps your families have very different expectations. Perhaps you simply need help deciding where to begin.
For couples living in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, or moving between countries, having a planner nearby creates a reassuring point of continuity throughout the process.
Translating the meaning behind the words
Speaking Italian helps when organising a wedding in Italy. Understanding what each person means, and what still needs clarification, is just as valuable.
You might expect an itemised proposal before making a decision. A supplier might prefer to discuss your ideas first and develop a tailored offer afterwards. Neither approach needs to become a source of frustration, provided someone keeps the conversation moving and makes the practical details explicit.
My role is to ask the next question: How many hours are included? Who handles the setup? What happens if it rains? When do you need to decide?
You should feel comfortable understanding what you are choosing, what you are paying for, and what happens next.
Protecting your time, without taking away your choices
Modern couples are often planning a wedding between meetings, work trips, house moves, and family commitments. If you live abroad, even a straightforward venue visit can require annual leave and flights.
You may enjoy choosing flowers and imagining the dinner setting. You may have very little enthusiasm for following up on six unanswered emails.
A planner helps you spend your attention where it matters to you. I can narrow the options around your priorities, coordinate conversations, and organise purposeful visits to Italy, so each trip brings you closer to a decision.
You remain involved in shaping your wedding, with someone responsible for carrying the plans forward.
Making the budget feel clear
A beautiful venue photograph tells you very little about the full cost of celebrating there.
Depending on the location and arrangements, you may also need furniture, lighting, transport, additional staffing, or a suitable wet-weather setup. Those details deserve attention early, while there is still room to make thoughtful choices.
I believe luxury includes feeling at ease with your decisions. That means discussing your priorities honestly, comparing proposals carefully, and understanding the commitments before you make them.
Perhaps an exceptional dinner matters more to you than elaborate flowers. Perhaps you would happily simplify the styling to host everyone for a welcome evening. Your budget should reflect the experience you want to give and share.
Looking after the people travelling for you
A wedding begins well before the ceremony.
Your guests may be arriving from Amsterdam, Brussels, London, or much further away. Some will turn the celebration into a holiday. Others may have limited time, young children, or concerns about travelling somewhere unfamiliar.
Clear information and considerate logistics make a difference: where to stay, how to reach the venue, whether transport is arranged, and what to expect throughout the celebrations.
For international couples, there may also be several languages, traditions, and family cultures to bring together. I want those differences to feel welcomed in the experience you create, from the ceremony to the conversations around the table.
A celebration with your story running through it
Italy offers extraordinary settings. The question I find most interesting is what will make one of them feel like yours.
Perhaps it is serving a dish connected to your first journey together. Including words from both your home languages in the ceremony. Creating a relaxed dinner because your favourite evenings always end with everyone lingering around the table.
This is what I mean by event storytelling: letting your shared life guide the choices, so the celebration has a sense of connection from beginning to end.
At Mānuka Honeymoon, I think of my role as the sweetener of life’s special moments. Sometimes that sweetness is a beautiful surprise. Sometimes it is knowing that someone else has spoken to the driver, checked the forecast, and made sure your parents know where to be.
It gives you room to be present.
From the Netherlands to Italy—and into your next chapter
If you have been searching for “Wedding planner Italy Netherlands”, you may be looking for someone who understands both sides of your plans: your everyday life here and the celebration you are imagining there.
That is the space Mānuka Honeymoon occupies.
And when the wedding gives way to your honeymoon, we can carry that same care into a journey designed around how you want to feel afterwards, whether you are ready for adventure, quiet, or a little of both.
If you are dreaming of a wedding in Italy, I would love to hear what first drew you there, and what you hope to remember when you look back on it together.
Based in Italy? We can plan your celebration together, too
Although I live in the Netherlands, I also help couples based in Italy bring their wedding plans to life. Perhaps you are organising a celebration close to home, choosing a different Italian region, or bringing together guests from several countries.
As an Italian, I understand how personal, and sometimes delicate, conversations about weddings, traditions, and family expectations can be. I take the time to understand what matters to you, then help turn those wishes into thoughtful choices and a well-coordinated celebration. We can work together through online meetings and arrange visits around the moments that benefit most from being there in person.
And if your wedding plans are already taking shape, I can help design the honeymoon: a journey that reflects your curiosity, your pace, and the way you love to travel together.
Vivete in Italia?
